Overview

Patriots,

America votes in 23 days. This week the Trump administration launched construction of the biggest new shipyard since World War II, signed up tens of millions of kids for investment accounts, and opened the door to Russian diesel to fight record fuel prices.

It also took real heat on jobs and gas. We cover that too, because you deserve the whole picture, with the wins stated plainly.

Here are the six stories that mattered this week.

THE GOLDEN FLEET
America’s Biggest New Shipyard Since World War II

On Tuesday, Trump stood at Sparrows Point, Maryland. It’s the old Bethlehem Steel site, where workers once made the steel that built America. The mill went bankrupt in 2012, and the land sat idle for years.

Now it’s getting a $3.7 billion shipyard from defense company Anduril, called Arsenal-2. The Navy added a $2.9 billion contract for Virginia-class submarine parts. All told, it’s a $6.6 billion public-private push. Trump says it will create about 3,100 jobs in Maryland and support 11,000 more across the country.

“Since World War II, there’s been nothing like what we’re doing today,” Trump said.

This is the centerpiece of his “Golden Fleet” plan. Trump says his team has lined up more than $76 billion for shipbuilding, with 80-plus new Navy vessels planned. Even the administration admits the Navy’s production problems run deep, so the plan targets delays, cost overruns, and thin competition among shipbuilders. Secretary of War Pete Hegseth tied it to the “arsenal of freedom” push to rebuild America’s defense factories. Trump closed the event with his signature dance to the Village People.

Here’s the twist. Maryland’s Democratic governor, Wes Moore, a frequent Trump critic, said the project could create “the most jobs in Maryland in history.” Reuters called it a rare moment of alignment. When a Democrat cheers a Trump factory, it’s hard to call it a photo op.

The reality check: the yard isn’t expected to open until 2030, and local officials still need to approve about $481 million in matching support. But launching construction beats talking about it. Peace through strength starts on a factory floor.
